'No 70' is currently out of service as a boiler overhaul is required. The main requirement is a new inner firebox. The boiler will be sent away for remedial work. Once overhauled, No 70 will return to traffic in Manchester Ship Canal lined slate grey livery
AC Railbus W79978
W79978 is one of four railbuses delivered in 1958 for use on the Kemble to Tetbury and Kemble to Cirencester branch lines and was regularly seen in Swindon until closure of the lines in 1964.
It is currently undergoing a programme of restoration but is sometimes available for running on specific days in between periods of deeper restoration. Keep track of its restoration by reading the regular news updates.
0-4-0 Saddle Tank ‘Richard Trevithick’
Built in 1954 by Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock, works number 2354 went to the Swanage Railway in 1979 and then came to Blunsdon in 1983 where it inaugurated steam services at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway.
At the time it was still oil fired but was converted back to burn coal soon after its arrival at Blunsdon. It is now undergoing a full overhaul.
