Afternoon Tea – Aboard the Saxon Dining Train

Indulge in an afternoon tea while travelling through 4 miles of countryside on board our exclusive dining service.

Settle into your comfortable seat in our authentic 1950’s carriage and let our staff take care of you.  Enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, cakes, scones with jam and Cornish cream, accompanied by an unlimited supply of tea and coffee, served in elegant bone china presented on white table linen. Soft drink alternative for children.

This is the perfect way to unwind and treat your family or friends to a special day out that you will long remember.

Adult £37.50, Child (under 18yrs) £35. Train ticket included.  Single price for all participants with the exception of children. 

(To book a small table requires a minimum of  2 persons per table,  a large table requires a minimum of 3 persons.  Tables will be automatically allocated by the system depending on availability).  

Departing Blunsdon Station at 2 pm only.  Boarding at 13:45pm

Afternoon Tea Menu

Each person will receive:

• A selection of 4 finger sandwiches from:  egg and watercress, beef and horseradish mayonnaise, prawn mayonnaise, honey-roast ham and farmhouse cheddar, and smoked salmon and cream cheese.
• 1x plain or fruit scone with strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream (Please choose your fruit/plain option on the booking form)
• 4 individual cakes (lemon slice, Victoria sponge, carrot cake, macaron)
• Coffee, Breakfast Tea or Decaf Tea available as standard.  Earl Grey Tea available to pre-order.

How to Book

• Use the drop-down box below to buy tickets for the number of people in your group. (Tables are for 2 or 3-4 people only).
• Select a 20cl bottle of Prosecco (optional extra) for £5.00 for each person. (participants must be at least 18yrs of age). Addtional prosecco can be purchased on the day.
• Let us know of any food allergies at the time of booking. 
• Please note, regretfully we are unable to cater for special diets at this time.
• Your table size will be determined for you by the number of people in your group. (Some tables may not be available even if there are still spaces advertised).

Dress Code: Smart Casual Recommended

Wheelchair Access:  We are sorry, but our 1950s Saxon Dining Coach has no provision for access using a wheelchair.

Buggies and Push Chairs:  Owing to limited space and permanently fixed seating we cannot supply highchairs or allow buggies in the dining carriage. We recommend that if attending with children that they are able to sit on the carriage seats at the table.

Dogs:  Because of the limited availability of space  – Assistance dogs only are permitted.

Note: We reserve the right to substitute individual menu items if they are not available on the day of service.  As we are obliged to order food and other services in advance, all tickets purchased for an event involving food or drink are non-refundable and non-transferable if a request to cancel or reschedule is made less than 5 days prior to the day of the event.

Our standard terms and conditions apply. S&CR Membership travel concessions are unfortunately not valid on this special service.
