The Swindon & Cricklade Railway has now completed the first stage of its extension to Mouldon Hill Country Park. Here, there will be a new station, Taw Valley Halt. The Halt will open in spring 2014, but the first passenger trains ran on the new track in 2012, on Saturday 25th August. Here are a few pictures.

The first train. GWR Prairie No 5521 has just run round and is about to return to Blunsdon and Hayes Knoll. Earlier events - arrival and running round - took place in a dense curtain of rain precluding photography! So the other pictures on this page were taken later.
