With the extension to Taw Valley completed in 2012, the Swindon & Cricklade Railway's tracklaying team has now started on the next stage of the eventual extension to Cricklade.
In 2008 the railway's northern extension towards Cricklade from Hayes Knoll was opened to South Meadow Lane. In summer 2013, work began on clearing the trackbed between South Meadow Lane and Farfield Lane.

Work began with a road/rail bulldozer advancing up the stub of siding-quality track from South Meadow Lane (which has since been removed).

Until it reached a point where years of rampant growth made more direct methods essential.14:56 17/08/2013

Initial clearance has now given us some open ground to work upon.
